Teak /Tectona Grandis

Teak (Tectona grandis) is a tropical hardwood tree species in the family Lamiaceae. It is a large, decidouos tree that occurs in mixed hardwood forests. Tectona grandis has small, fragrant white flowers arranged in dense clusters (pinacles) at the end of the branches. These flowers contain both types of reproductive organs (perfect flowers). The large, papery leaves of teak trees are often hairy on the lower surface. Teak wood has a leather-like smell when it is freshly milled and is particularly valued for its durability and water resistance. The wood is used for boat building, exterior construction, veneer, furniture, carving, turnings, and various small projects

Eucalptus

Size and habit

Eucalypts vary in size and habit from shrubs to tall trees. Trees usually have a single main stem or trunk but many eucalypts are mallees that are multistemmed from ground level and rarely taller than 10 metres (33 feet). There is no clear distinction between a mallee and a shrub but in eucalypts, a shrub is a mature plant less than 1 m (3 ft 3 in) tall and growing in an extreme environment.

Pine

pine is any conifer in the genus Pinus of the family Pinaceae. Pinus is the sole genus in the subfamily Pinoideae. The species are evergreen trees or shrubs with their leaves in bunches, usually of 2 to 5 needles. The seeds are carried on woody cones, with two seeds to each cone scale..

Pine trees provide one of the most extensively used types of timber. The pine nuts are used to make dishes such as petso, while retsina wine is flavoured with pine resin.

coffee

Coffea is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. Coffea species are shrubs or small trees native to tropical and southern Africa and tropical Asia. The seeds of some species, called coffee beans, are roasted and ground to brew into various coffee beverages. The fruits, like the seeds, contain a large amount of caffeine, and have a distinct sweet taste.

Jackfruit

A conscious diet thrives on clear ingredients, genuine nature, and as few additives as possible. That’s precisely why at Kumaio® we avoid preservatives and additives wherever possible and rely on high-quality, carefully selected raw materials . Jackfruit is a true gift of nature: versatile, nutritious, and sustainable.

Cocoa

Cocoa contains phytochemicals like flavanols, procyianidins, and other flavonoids and flavanol-rich chocolate and cocoa products may have a small blood pressure lowering effect. The beans also contain theobromine and a small amount of caffeine. The tree takes five years to grow and has a typical lifespan of 100 years.

Soursop

Soursop, or Graviola, grows abundantly in Uganda taking advantage of the ideal tropical climate. This incredible fruit thrives in sandy loamy, well-drained soils, and loves high rainfall. Consequently, you can frequently see it growing around Central and Western Uganda.

Easily recognized by its spiky green skin and soft, white pulp, soursop is celebrated around the world for its sweet and tangy flavor. In Uganda, it is consumed fresh or processed into juice, ice cream, and desserts.

In addition to meeting local demand, farmers produce soursop for its higher market demand in regional and international markets. This may be due to its abundant nutritional benefits. Rich in vitamins C and B, as well as dietary fiber, it has gained notoriety as a staple of clean eating and natural medicine.

Grafted Mangoes

Grafted mangoes are produced by joining a branch (scion) of a proven, high-quality fruit tree onto a hardy seedling rootstock. This technique allows trees to fruit in just 2 to 4 years, ensuring identical fruit quality and size to the mother plant, unlike trees grown directly from seed.

Why Graft Mangoes?
  • Early Fruiting: Grafted trees produce fruit years earlier than seed-grown trees, which can take 6 to 8 years
  • True to Variety: You get an exact replica of the mother tree’s fruit—such as Kent, Tommy Atkins, or Apple mangoes—rather than an unpredictable genetic cross.
  • Disease Resistance & Size: Rootstocks can be selected to resist local soil diseases and limit the tree’s height for easier harvesting and spraying.

Ovacado

Flower

Panicles of flowers with deciduous bracts arise from new growth or the axils of leaves. The tree flowers thousands of blossoms every year. Avocado blossoms sprout from racemes near the leaf axils; they are small and inconspicuous 5–10 mm (31638 in) wide.

Fruit

The pear-shaped fruit is usually 7–20 cm (3–8 in) long, weighs between 100 and 1,000 g (3+12 and 35+12 oz), and has a large central seed, 5–6.4 cm (2–2+12 in) long.

Calliandra haematocephala

The genus comprises herbaceous perennial, shrubs, and rarely small trees, growing 0.5–6 m (1.5–19.5 feet) tall, with bipinnate leaves. The flowers are produced in cylindrical or globose inflorescence and have numerous long slender stamens which give rise to the common names powder-puffpowder puff plant, and fairy duster. These plants flower all year round, but the best blooming is in spring and summer. They can be easily pruned..
